Happy New year

Out the door with my son by 7am. Destination the water’s edge, to make my last casts of 2021.

My fly was in the drink by 830 am. And was optimistic with every cast that I would feel a tug. It never happened. Saw no bait and no working birds. I heard a few fish were caught further south from where I was. (Monmouth County)

Wishing all of you an amazing New Year. Stay positive and always be thankful for all that you have. God Bless and Tight Lines

VISSER Pliers

Visser is releasing a new tool, and I am sure it won’t disappoint. Carrying a good set of pliers while fishing is essential, not a luxury. If you have been fishing for some time now, you have a story of two where a good set of pliers have helped save the day. And if you are just getting started, save yourself the headache and invest in the best you can afford. Below is Visser press release from Social Media

Weekend Cleanup

No casting plugs or flies this weekend, though the desire was there. Instead, I took the time to clean/organize the SUV. I had plugs, flies, terminal tackle and more all over the place. Cleanup was overdue.

I have at least one more trip before I call it quits until spring.

Chasing Stripers In December

I was on the beach at first light. And so were about a dozen or so anglers, some enjoyed soaking bunker chunks, and the others casting lures as far as they could. We all came up empty-handed.

The bait showed up but stayed offshore, after the bait moved on, I stuck around for a bit casting poppers and swimmers. Called it quits around 10 am.

From what I hear, the catching was slow up and down the Jersey Shore. (12/4/21)

Better luck next time.

The Weekend

Surfcasting in December can be productive, and looking back at past seasons the last month of the year has always been good to me. And I am expecting the same this year.

So will there be an abundance of striped bass waiting for us this weekend out front?

Make sure you keep an eye out for surface activity and working birds.

Every dog has his day.

As the sun rose I casted my pencil popper. I worked the lure perfectly back to shore with a thrashing side to side dance. The fish showed no interest. Casters to my left and right worked swimmers, swim shads and array of other baits. Nada! I guess no one was home. (Fish)

Every dog has its day, so I’ll just keep plugging.

Where Are The Striped Bass?

On the way.. a little late but I guess that’s ok.

That’s why this weekend you can find me somewhere along NJ’s northern beaches casting my favorite pencil popper first thing in the AM.

Surfcasting on Thanksgiving Day.

Out the door at 5 AM and made my first cast around 630 AM. (Monmouth County)

The bait was there but too far out. Hung around for a little bit and hoped for the bait to move in closer. It never happened.

Beautiful morning and Happy thanksgiving.
